A holy weapon is imbued with holy power. This power makes the weapon good-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against all creatures of evil alignment. It bestows one permanent negative level on any evil creature attempting to wield it. The negative level remains as long as the weapon is in hand and disappears when the weapon is no longer wielded. This negative level cannot be overcome in any way (including by restoration spells) while the weapon is wielded.
An ominous weapon trails a shadowy haze behind every stroke, and moans a menacing dirge in battle. An ominous weapon adds its enhancement bonus on Intimidate checks made by the wielder. In addition, when an ominous weapon confirms a critical hit, the target is shaken for 1 minute (DC 13 Will negates); if the weapon’s critical multiplier is greater than x2, this condition lasts 1 additional minute per multiple over x2. A creature that gains the shaken condition from an ominous weapon cannot gain that condition again from the same weapon for 24 hours.
Once, a cult decided that Undaren Gelio stood in the way of their plans.
An assassin, with a weapon consecrated by their dread priests, attacked him in his castle.
After Undaren Gelio had dispatched the assassin himself, (He lost a hand in that.) he took the weapon as a trophy.
Many years after the cult had been hunted down and eliminated, Undaren gave the pick as a gift to his nephew, Colin.
